SaabKen's First Visit: Thai Ginger in SeattlePosted by SaabKen, 5/28/03 at 8:22:41 AM.As frequent travellers to the Puget Sound area, we recently went out for dinner with some friends while in Renton and we decided to find a new Asian spot none of us been to before. I recalled a radio ad for a place called The Thai Ginger so we headed to the nearest one in Factoria (Bellevue). A very tastefully decored dining room welcomed us as we settled into a cozy corner. On that night the place was bustling with people, which I was happy to see, as I was always told by my Chinese parents that a busy (Chinese term is "hot & noisy") place keeps ingredients fresh and dishes cooked hot. Fresh and hot it was. Although the menu offered pretty much the same fare as your typical Thai House, Sawasdee or Sala Thai here at home, it was the freshness and quality of all the ingredients that really impressed me. All dishes are non-MSG, and of the ones we ordered none were drowning in over-salted or over-soy'd sauces. Garlic and ginger were used generously, as was Thai basil and coriander. Chili hotness scale range from 1-4, and since I usually ask for the top half of the atomic scale, the 3 and 4 rated dishes came in just right for my asbestos palate. All dinner dishes including seafood choices are under US$10. With our stronger exchange rate these days that can only be good news for Canuck Thai food fans. Thai Ginger (Warning Flash site with muzak) Bon appetit, Ken
