Ryan's Napa and San Francisco Picks

Posted by Roland Tanglao, 8/19/02 at 10:54:49 PM.

    Hey Roland,

Good Luck getting reservations at French Laundry. If you cannot here are some suggestions from my last adventure in San Fran / Napa.

GARY DANKO 800 N. Point St., San Francisco, CA, USA Phone: 415/749-2060
Notes: Expensive but worth it. Check out their latest menu's on their web site as they are seasonal.

Bistro Don Giovanni 4110 St. Helena Highway Napa, CA 94558 Phone: 707-224-3300
Notes: The place to go for a romantic quite rustic Italian dinner. Prices are reasonable considering its in Napa. 15-20 for an entree and the portions huge. Order 3 dishes and your set. The osso bucco here is to die for. That was my favorite dish. The crab cakes are decent too. If you like crab cakes.

Tu Lan 8 6th Street San Francisco, CA 94103 415-626-0927
Notes: Cheap and Excellent Vietnamese food. Might look like a hole in the wall. (That's what I thought...) The food is sooo good. Even better than the Vietnamese food here in Vancouver. Which is hard to beat. They even made my dishes extra spicy as I requested. The restaurant itself is in a "bad neighborhood" but it is worth the trip as my colleagues from sf suggested. You must go there if you are in SF and like Vietnamese food.
