Mini-Review: Kwong Chow Congee & Noodle House

Posted by Roland Tanglao, 7/1/02 at 8:48:54 PM.

It's become almost a family tradition for us to eat at the Kwong Chow Congee & Noodle house whenever one of us returns from vacationing in a foreign country.

Luckily, since Barb's parents are retired, they go on vacation quite regularly and so we get to eat at Kwong Chow often!

Not only is the food inexpensive and delicious, this restaurant is open late (11:00a.m. to 2:00a.m. 7 days a week) and is located midway between where we all live.

Of course the congee and noodles here are great, but we also enjoy their regular Chinese menu.

The last time we had the following: Marinated Chicken Claws for $9.75 (crisp texture and nice and spicy, if you like this kind of thing you'll like this alot), and Fresh Shui Kau for $5.50 (tasty shrimp dumplings in a light wrapper in yummy broth) to start.

This was followed by Sauteed Scallops & Cuttlefish with Vegetables for $12.00 (oh so tender cuttlefish and scallops), "Honey Garlic Spareribs" for $10.50 (in quotes because they weren't spareribs they were pork chops! mmm!), sliced ostrich meat with XO sauce for $13.50 (leaner and tastier than beef!), On Choy with Chili Pepper & Preserved Bean Curd for $9.75 (one of our favourites since we both love the texture and flavour of On Choy aka water spinach aka Kang Kong!).

All in all about about $70 for four people with big appetities :-) ! Definitely worth trying out!
