    Prado Cafe - Arieanna's 1st Visit

Wow! Arieanna is really hitting her stride with Vancouver Coffee! The Prado Cafe coffee sounds good, a little bit on the right (in my opinion) side of over roasted; i.e. smoother and not as over roasted as others. Can't wait for Coffee Geek to chime in and will somebody please post some pictures :-) ?

    From Vancouver Coffee: Prado Cafe.:

    QUOTE

However, milk accident aside, I did find the coffee smooth if not rather on the weak side. No trace of bitterness, overroasted beans, or other obvious flaws. But I think perhaps too weak tasting - not enough power. The kick was still there, don't get me wrong. It put me into the brisk walk type of mood, but I was not overly impressed. I would put it along the lines of a Take 5 type coffee in terms of its taste, but perhaps a little under par.

I will not comment further until a second try. Yes, it was good but it did not wow me. Perhaps I am getting to be a better judge of coffee after having tried many good varieties at this point. I am even rethinking my earlier high ratings of some cafes in light of comparative samples.

    1st Birthday Cake

    Food at the Kid's 1st Birthday party - 2
For our kid's first birthday, I made a 2 tier birthday cake (Roland had one for his first birthday).  And since this was probably the only year I could get away with making a cake without a particular theme and his birthday fell on Easter, I decorated it with Easter goodies from La Petite France

The cake itself was a tender banana cake layered with chocolate ganache and iced with whipped cream.   I'm sure glad there are leftovers!
