    First Visit: Shi-Art Chinese Cuisine
Posted by Roland Tanglao on 10/13/04; 10:25:15 PM
    From the Restaurants dept.

    Mon11Oct2004Food - Dim Sum at Shi-Art Chinese Cuisine - 7

Shi-Art Chinese Cuisine (604 279-8998, reservations accepted, located next to Rickey's in Richmond Centre) seems to be one of the current Cantonese "new new things".

It's at the Richmond Centre in Richmond (our new East Van home is much closer to Richmond) and it's all modern Cantonese - complete with shiny shiny chandelier. The dim sum is great and you get the usual 20% off if you pay before 11a.m. And the charming Wilson, formerly of Spicy Court, presides over all!

My favourite among the dim sum we ordered is shown above. It's siu mai (shrimp dumpling) with liver.

Apparently, this dish is a Cantonese favourite but this was the first time for me. Shows you how much more I have to learn!

I love liver of all forms; this one is sweet and succulent and it paired well with the shrimp. Highly recommended.

Our bill of about 9 dishes (we usually order more but this was the day after Thanksgiving dinner) was $37 after the discount. A bargain for four adults.

    We'll be back for a mini-review!
