From the Farmers' Markets dept.
I love items that are both functional and beautiful. At the Nat Bailey Farmer's Market
today I came across the gorgeous craftsmanship of Alex
Zapotichny. Alex, who is a retired highschool woodworking
teacher, designs and makes hardwood cutting boards. He uses
native hardwoods and accents the boards with exotic hardwoods.
Of course I couldn't resist and bought 2 boards: one 12" round
maple and a 7" square, both very reasonably priced at $25 and
$8.50. And there were several others that I liked and would look
great in our new place!
The next time Alex will be selling his boards again will be at the
Winter Market on Sunday, December 12 at the Heritage Hall on Main and
15th.
