[J Fraser] FarmFolk / CityFolk - Feast of Fields
Posted by J Fraser on 9/9/04; 11:39:48 PM
    From the Farmers' Markets dept.

[ROLAND's NOTE: Thanks J! Full info on this event can be found at Urban Vancouver and in the Delta Optimist:Feast of Fields returns for a second year at Westham Island Herb Farm. If anybody goes to Feast of Fields, please let us know how you liked it!]

Hi Roland, as a long time reader of your fantasic review blog I'd like to forward on the following regarding a wandering picnic this Sunday. I didn't have the opportunity last year to make it to the event, but I hope to visit the event this Sunday and thought your readers might also like to know about it.

    Cheers from the farmfolk ;)

Caffe Artigiano has excellent espresso but no free WiFi

    Caffe Artigiano

I am not a coffee geek, but I have finally found an espresso that's not bitter!

The espresso ($2) at the newly (one month old) Caffe Artigiano on Hastings (740 West Hastings) is not bitter. In fact, it's tasty. And the new location of this Vancouver mini-chain famous for it's award winninig coffee is a great place to hang out for a coffee or a bite to eat.

Now if they only had free WiFi, it would become my new hangout. Unfortunately they don't so Take 5 will continue to be my second office and Artigiano will be a place where I treat myself occasionally to an excellent espresso.

    1st Visit - Libby's

    Libby's and environs

Libby's (3429 Porter near Trout Lake community centre and the East Van Farmer's Market) is a 10 minute walk from our new East Van home and it's going to be one of our local hangouts. On a recent visit we tried their soup and panini combo and it was a winner.

The soup had a wonderful rustic and home made feel to it, the panini ws delicious and the staff friendly ; we'll be back for a mini-review soon!
