Rubina Tandoori Mumbai Street Food Festival is a MUST EAT event
Posted by Roland Tanglao on 3/14/04; 11:09:40 PM
    From the Restaurants dept.

The March only Rubina Tandoori (1962 Kingsway, 604 874-3621 ) Mumbai Street Food Festival is a MUST EAT event. If you love Indian food, you must try this before it's over at the end of March!

We tried it Saturday night and loved it. Not only is the food delicious but it's cheap. We tried their full meal deal for $50 (that's the total, it's not per person!) for five adults. This included 12 street food snacks (tapas sized portions, there are about 18 to choose from and plenty of vegetarian choices), 2 drinks and 2 desserts from their Mumbai Street Food Festival menu.

A great deal. Plenty of food for 4-6 adults depending on how hungry you are. And if you want more, you can always order something from their regular menu like a Goan prawn curry.

Everything was flavourful and delightful but here are my favourites.

Dhokla – rice flour steamed cakes with garlic chili chutney (rice cakes and chili, an excellent combo):

Sev Puri – fried flour crisps with gram vermicelli, chutneys and relish (mmm deep fried bits combined in a crispy, tamarind refreshing style, pardon the blurry photo it was taken in a dark restaurant by a pregnancy induced carpal tunnel sufferer!):

Chole Puri                  – chickpeas curry with soft fried whole-wheat bread (puri, deep fried bread with flavourful and great chick peas)

Chicken Frankie       – Bombay blast chicken in chapatti roll (a shredded chicken delight with an excellent extra spicy and smokey chili sauce)
