From the Shopping dept.
September 11, 2001 was a turning point in everybody's lives including mine. That was the day I received my severance package from Nortel in Richmond as well as the day of the terrorist attacks in the USA.Ever since then, I hardly ever go to Richmond. Before that day, I used to spend a lot of my time eating and shopping in Richmond. Now that I work in Vancouver, I spend 90% of my time there. So it was wonderful to re-discover the Empire Supermarket (102 - 4600 No. 3 Rd, Richmond, 604 278-8890) with my Chinese Culinary Arts class on Monday. This is where I used to shop before September 11th. It's still there and it's still great! More tomorrow, but you must shop there if you get a chance. Fresh produce, meat, seafood, spices, Chinese medicine, sauces, even some Filipino stuff, etc. at great prices.
