    First Visit: lunchbox soup
Posted by Roland Tanglao on 8/23/03; 1:04:04 PM
    From the Restaurants dept.

Two month old lunchbox soup (991 Hornby,  604 844 7687) has wonderful soup!  Yesterday, I tried and really enjoyed their 1/2 soup and sandwich ($7.50).

For your $7.50 you get a big cup of soup of your choice in a white tall cup and a sandwich in a white bag.  White is definitely one of the main design motifs of this restaurant. All of the staff are clad tip to toe in white and the ambiance is soothing white.

I chose a pastrami with cheese sandwich which tasty enough in its own right, but for me the highlight was the soup.  I picked curried celery root with butternut squash.  Mmmm.  An excellent blast of celery flavour combined with butternut squash. The soup alone made it all worth while.

I  finished with a home made thick yogurt dessert for about $5 .  The yogurt is made on the premises from milk and it was combined with lemon, blueberries and peaches.  A wonderful finish to my lunch.

Not cheap but definitely worth it for the excellent soup if your looking for a splurge for lunch or for a nice snack. I''ll be back for a mini-review!
