According to How to Boil Four-Star Water: A Master Class (free registration required), if you have money (at least US $1400), the right equipment and can pass their application process, you can intern at the French Laundry for two days or more.
I don't have the money, but it sure beats trying to get a French Laundry reservation! If I had the money, I'd definitely go for it!
Once more the excellent marketing and philosophy of the French Laundry shines through. As they say, think about the food!
