Sat's Writing Food Panel Discussion at UBC Robson Square
Posted by Roland Tanglao on 7/22/02; 11:08:07 PM
    From the Features dept.

This is just a short initial writeup on the Writing Food Panel Discussion at UBC Robson Square last Saturday.

Although attendance was sparse (due to the fantastic weather and the Vancouver Folk Festival diverting all but the most dedicated foodies), those who attended were rewarded with a funny, thoughtful and informative discussion about many aspects of food writing and food in general.

Such varied topics as "how does one become a food writer?", "how does one come up with ideas for stories?", the Slow Food Movement, "what is the difference between Granville Island Market and "real" Farmer's markets such as the ones sponsored by eatlocal.org here in Vancouver?" and many more were covered.

Suffice to say that after attending that we are really stoked about the Writing Food course (next one is scheduled for Tuesdays, Oct 22-Dec 10, 7-9:30-p.m. Room B320, Buchanan Building, $295, 604 822 9564 for more info and to register) at UBC and we are highly tempted to take it!

Stay tuned for a full report!
