    Karen Barnaby's new website
Posted by Roland Tanglao on 4/11/02; 11:54:51 PM
    From the Features dept.

Ted Fraser, who would appear to be Karen Barnaby's PR and/or webmaster, wrote in to tell us about Karen's new website, www.karenbarnaby.com. And he asked us for our opinion on the website.

Content wise, the website is fabulous! As befits her status as chef of the The Fish House and author of many fine cookbooks (such as The Girls Who Dish! Top Women Chefs Cook Their Best), the recipes on the site sound fantastic. I have got to try Flat Roasted Chicken with Sweet Carrots, Prosciutto & Olives!

I found the Biography and Career sections of the site equally fascinating. It is clear that Karen has a passion for cooking and life that shows not only in her professional career but also in her work with community kitchens, and Farm Folk/City Folk, two very worthwhile causes.

From a website point of view, I found the site beautiful but hard to get around. It is difficult to know where you are and the rollovers (the term for what happens when you move your mouse over the circles on the site) are pretty but non-functional and non-intuitive.

I would like the website to be updated regularly with Karen's insight into the cooking business, being a chef, cooking and her work in the community. It does not have to be a weblog with (almost) daily updates like VanEats, but it would be nice to get a regular update. Once a week or once every two weeks would be great!

What do you think about Karen's site? Please let us know! By the way, if anybody out there (food related or not) wants to set up a weblog, please contact me. I would love to help you set up a weblog like VanEats.
